REIMAGINE EDUCATION CONFERENCE: SPEAKERS CONFIRMED!
REIMAGINE’S RETURNING. RETURN WITH US!
In 2016, the Center for Curiosity chose to partner with the Reimagine Education Awards & Conference to create the inaugural Cultivating Curiosity Award. The Center for Curiosity is a New York-based non-profit think tank “dedicated to exploring the science of curiosity, promoting its practice, and its academic and public advancement”. Applicants to the Cultivating Curiosity Award are asked to consider curiosity as a psychological, neurological, and pedagogical construct, and to create learning frameworks that either enhance or leverage it to improve outcomes.
Last year’s inaugural award runner-up, Emanuele Ferrari, was rewarded for his novel concert-lecture format. The format synthesises leisure and learning, pedagogy and piano, and in doing so inculcates the desire for musical understanding in a wide audience. Below, readers can view one of his concert-lectures, after a note from Ferrari himself about his Reimagine Education experience.
Entering the 2016 Reimagine Education Awards was a precious occasion to think over everything I do, reconsidering it with a unified perspective. Above all, this has given me a boost to organize and present all of my differing activities in a coherent framework, centered on education and innovation. The “Cultivating Curiosity” Silver Award has fueled the implementation of further developments of my educational devices. It also has prompted me to head towards the international context with the utmost conviction. The video about Liszt that I’m presenting is exactly this: an opportunity for my concert-lectures to be finally understood abroad, by a larger public. Music speaks by itself, with no bounds: therefore, it deserves to be talked about in the most inclusive and understandable way.
